Why Slip?

I just tanned my first bobcat...(fleshed, salted, 3 days in pickle and McKenzie Tan)

I have two golfball sized spots on the rump that have slipped. This is my first experience with slip and would like to know if I did something wrong. (I can't believe how easilly the hair sluffed off!)

I've tanned several "critters" and this is my first experience with slip. The hair is very tight on the rest of the cat.

They don't seem to need a reason to slip, though usually it's the ears. Maybe too long in a warm room before you started, maybe they were frozen hard and gangrene set in before the body temp was lowered enough. Just a myriad of things that can, and often do, go wrong with cats and canids.
