just one color and be accurate. When I look at deer I don't see one color. I see multiple colors and they are usually different between each deer. You are going to have to mix colors and shade and blend if you are looking to be accurate. If you don't care what it looks like paint it a dusty pink or flesh pink and be done. Good Luck, Dan

thanks dan

...we wouldn't have a reason to keep coming back. Lighten up a little, huh? LMAO

I paint mine with a mixture of Bass Belly white, a few drops of Chocolate Brown and a few drops of Cad Yellow. The exact recipe can be found in Dennis Behn's video of Finishing Whitetail Deer from McKenzie. He gives exact amounts, I just mix and match till I get a neutral white that mimmicks the eye ring and inner ear of a deer. When it's painted, I take Flesh and just mist a very fine highlight on the ear. But that's ME and I don't compete. Maybe Bill will add some more, but I'd still suggest getting the video.

Depends on what you are doing Tim........If you are competeing....you,ll probly want all those colors.....I thin WASCO,s super hide white very thin and very slowly tint inside the ears and it looks good ......I like it better than the pink colors.....GL ...TD....

thanks folks

Sorry I havent checked back on that other post about painting, Im still laughing at "you-know-who" who posted as John and the gang, they just busted him and got his email, George was right as usual!

As for the paint, I use lacquer, so I dont know if my schedule will work for water base. I use various choices of white, pink or flesh as a base, then black, then your favorite value of brown, then another cut back black value. I also use a nose color made by WASCO, with my name on it. Thats why I dont push the paint schedules, I grow tired of being accused of bragging, which will happen the next time someone gets bent over something I say, lol! It is in the archives, though, as well as a past issue of Breakthrough. The values of color are cut with thinners and clear, so thats why I question using it with water base. Good luck to you, though! And by all means, use the respirator and mask even if its water based, its still as harmful.
