Hi everyone, i'm pretty new to taxidermy and i've only done six ducks so far and i have a mallard hen to mount and i want to put her in a sleeping pose. I've watched the mallards this winter at our harbour and on really cold days they fluff up their feathers when they sleep. After the duck is mounted do you use a blow drying to keep fluffing the feathers until they lock in or is their another way to pull this off. I know it will be a difficult mount for me but i would still like to try it

Puff It Up With Cotton Batting Or Whatever You Use

I always put cotton batting inside on top of the mannikin inside the bird in order to fluff it up. It will give you the effect you want. Then you can fluff them to your desire.
