I recently purchased a dry salted whitetail cape that was apparently hung by the nose to dry on some type of metal hanger. Part of the nose pad and the white hair on the side of the pad are rust stained pretty badly. Would it be safe to use a product such as Winks rust stain remover for this? If so, at what point in the tanning process would I use it? Or, should I return the cape?

...a little laquer thinner and see if will remove it.....I know it wont hurt your cape....I dont know about the winks rust stain remover.....you can test it on a part of the cape that you dont need to see it causes a problem....GL ...TD
