I have checked the archives and got many different answers to the same question.
So what should the ph be brought to in order to nutralise a pickle?
Some say 7.0 to 7.4 and some have said 5.0-5.2
I'm going to tan with lutan.

one tablespoon of bakeing soda for each gallon of water used, soak no more than 30 minutes, rinse out the bakeing soda, go to the Lutan.
I beleive what you want is 4 to 5 on the ph. To high is not good. But as long as you go by the 1 tablespoon to 1 gallon of water ratio, and should use about 3 gallons for a deer cape, you do not have to worry about the ph to much. It's not rocket surgery.

If what you're asking is how to neutralize the pickle solution itself, a ph of 7 should be fine. If you're wanting to neutralize a cape or hide, then what Mr. T said will work.
