Trying my first squirrel mount with my 10 year old daughter.
Do I take the girth measurement before skinning or of the
carcass after for ordering the form? Also what type of eye
is best to use?
Thanks!

is best to take the measurement after skinning. Use the black bubble eyes, Its been awhile since I did one but I think a 10mm eye would do but you should check before buying. After you de bone the tail freeze it so you can use it as a reference when you make the tail for the form. I would reccomend that you get a video to guide you thru the mounting process.
I take mine off the unskinned animal, but regardless, with the flacidness of the squirrel, you can lean him down or fatten him up in the girth as long as your nose to tail base number is correct. That's your most important one. I wouldn't recommend cinching your tape up tight regardless of when you measure.
