what things do i have to look for that the judges would mark me down for. i was looking over my deer mount and seen a few things that im not sure about. on all my mounts, i try to leave the horns as they were when brought to me. i wipe off the blood of course, but i leave the "dirt", for lack of better words, left in the cracks and crevises that cause a stained look. is this a deduction. also when i do my ears i leave the inside of the ear open so i can add more base if i need to. should i close or fill that part up and try to make it feel inside what a live one would feel like. do i need the veins of the "ceptrum", i think its called, inside the nostrils. i know these are silly questions, but i have never attended a show and want to do my best and then learn from there on. thanks in advance for you comments.

Think about what a live deer looks like. That's what a judge is looking for. The dirt in the antlers is fine.
thanks for the input doug, im looking foward to this compatition. thanks again.
