Hi all, I just skinned my first coyote for a rug and i skinned to the toe nails and removed the fatty tissue in paw pad, But I cant seem to skin far enough to get to the Toe pads, Do I need to split them or is there a way to skin further? Also, Will McKenzie tan and tan oil#2 work for good rug? Thanks, Mike

toes are actually webbed and if you seperate the webbing all the way it will be easy to get to.

this will sound slow but i can do a toe in less than a minute from start to finish - when you get them as inverted as your can separate each toe and about 3" of bone hooked to it - put each bone in a vise and pull on hide while using a (not real sharp) knife - they will peel back slicker than snot - cut off with dykes and go on to next one

If your cuting off with dykes-

Your not at the nail. Split the foot as far as you can. Run your knife between each toe and pry the bone out to the end. The last nuckle bone will pop right out at you the back of the nail looks half moon shaped cut there. To hard to put to words better if some one could show you once. Jack F
