Ok I have read the forums 2 days now and came up with all kinds of things, old and new ideas. Well I am going to ask, The only place I can do taxidermy in basement and no other options. Before I do it I need to know that I have proper ventilation.I plan on building a 4x8 ft. booth that I can do varrious jobs in, I want it large enough to put my deer mount in to paint and form alterations etc. At this time I will not be doing any fish which is a lot of painting.Untill I have monet and time to build a shop I will do only as needed. This 4x8 ft. area I will be doing mixing and setting my pickle up there it will be a in and out area, will this work and as I said it will be 4ft. deep by 8ft. long front open no windows in basement but I can cut in some 4" diamiter holes and vent out now my main question is how large of exhaust fan do I need I would mount on top with filters, the fan I do have is a attic fan 1350 cfm will that be large enough dont want it to suck the paint away from mounts. It is not a completely sealed motor meanning not explossion proof. The motor is connected right to a plastic fan it is approx. 12" in diamater.Planned on 2 4" holes venting outside, with dryer vents. How large of filter area will I need at top? was thinking 2 16x20.Any input to this Idea of any other suggestions would be grettly appreciated. One other thing I am on a fixed budget cant afford explossion proof fans or outside building etc. I do have a old squirrel cage furnace fan too. Also I have been in building maintenance for 20 yrs. and can do elect, and carpentry but never done any thing like this before. SORRY SO LONG but wanted you to have the facts thanks again Tim

I sent you an email with a link to photos of a small booth that I have in my basement shop. You can build the thing for less than $100. I can send you drawings. I think a 4x8 booth would be great, but I also think it's overkill for what you need at this time. The mini booth that I have plans for WILL do the job for you. Any interest?

fans...will work.

tim..the booth will work for what you are doing just fine i think. if it is to be used to seperate liquids which may spill and such. i worked in a small shop for years that didnt have any windows at all. i put one of those squir cage blowers in and exhausted it out the wall. i did my painting and laquor work near by so the fan would pull the fumes out of the room. i didn't have any filters on mine at all. as for explosion...well, you probably already know the answere to that one. the air, to fuel, to ignition must be proper to start a fire. i didnt have a problem with mine at all in three years. if you have a spill of laquor thiner or this type...just clean it up quickly and allow to dry. "don't ever throw rags with laquer on them in a trash can or tie them up in a plastic bag" thy will ignite on their own! let them air dry before discarding! anyways good luck to you. jim
