I really don't use wax in my finishing work because it has a tendency to melt in hot weather and it's nothing but a dust collector.

When finishing a whitetail deer mount I use apoxie sculpt in the pink color. Just work it into the crevises around the eye and smooth it out with you modeling tool with the assistance of lacquer thinner on a Q-tip. Then inside the nostrils use your modeling tool and smooth it out with the assistance of a Q-tip moistened with lacquer thinner.

The use of waxes is now considered on the antiquated side of doing finishing work.

Although some may find the use of wax easier. It is only because that is what they are use to. by all standards today was as a finishing medium has gone by the wayside. As John said it melts, collects dust, falls out and In general does not have desirable qualities. The use of wax is considered poor quality workmanship. in all honesty you need to develop new methods if you wish to Maintain a good reputation. In my Opinion
