but I can't seem to find the one I need. I have a professionally tanned whitetail cape that feels pretty oily to me. I rehydrated it and sweated in overnight in the fridge. I'm getting an oily residue on my hands as I thin the cape. Should I be concerned about this? If so, what should I do?

I think I'd call the tannery.

Is it a cape that you sent to the tannery or one that you just bought from someone who already had it tanned? If you sent it and know which tannery it was, I'd call them.

wash

before you mount it shampoo the hair side and rinse the excess oil out when removing the shampoo suds. Wash quickly in cold water, dont take all day at it, roll in towels for 15 minutes and mount.
