if you dp that bear you will regret it! tan it without a doubt!
If you mount it with DP you WILL end up with a smelly bear. The bear HAS to be degreased and tanned. If not, the grease left in the skin ends up spoiling and causing the hide to smell. A guy that USED to be down the road took short cuts and used it all the time on everything. He is now out of business because most of his mounts smell or hair falls out. I sell a new cape and remount around 4-6 deer a year on average from past customers of couple different taxidermists in the area that use DP. I feel DP is a cheap short cut in doing taxidermy to save a little bit of time and cash. Then take money and run. It might work some what on some small mammels (Squirrel size maybe)but that would be about it. I'm sure I'll hear about how good it is from some and get hate comments. That would be from the small minority that still use DP. Do it right and tan your hides.
Don't even bother with it. Send it out to be tanned. You won't regret it.
thanks for your comments... i thought i should tan... I appreciate the time you took to respond... thanks again.
