I use 9"x24" clear 4 mil bags I buy from a company called Uline......I never roll the cape .....I just stick the nose and ears in and stuff the cape into the bag hair side out.....the reason I dont roll is because it will take longer for the face area to thaw.......I set them out in the evening and they are ready to work on the next morning (the neck may have frozen spots but the face is thawed}......roll them and its oposit.......I use waterproof tags to write the customer infornation on and put that inside the bag where I can read it......(NO tags fall off) and I use small electric ties to tie and seal the bag with.....They will keep well over two or three years and maybe longer....GL TD

Wrapping capes for freezing

It is much better to roll the face of the deer into the center of the cape, hair side out. I recently fleshed one for someone that had been stored this way for five years, it was OK, no freezer burn on ears or nose. Roll them up tight as you can, and double the bag, wrapped tightly to express as much air as possible. IMHO, this will allow them to keep longer.

I just recently.......

.....thawed out a 2002 deer for a recape that was baged without rolling the face and it was just fine ......in one 4 mil bag packed in tight....but if I knew I was going to freeze one that long then I would roll it but rarely does one stay in my freezer that long....GL TD

TIM stop-rot it and

whatever you do after will not matter as much
but
if you have some apply it now to the eyes, ears, nose, and mouth
i also put some on the lower brisket
im talking about the hair side now
i used to go to great extremes with a plastic and paper bag combo
but with the stop rot ive experimented and now i just but it in plastic and they have been fine
i do lay them out till almost frozen though before i fold them and put in the bag
