Hi, this will be my first animal other than a deer. It is a Bobcat. Do I need to degrease a bobcat? I looked in the archives didnt really find what I was looking for though. I am going to mount it like it is stalking, sneaking up on something. Dorsal Ok for this type mount or do I need to do it on the belly? Any help greatly appreciated. Little nervous after reading about all the hair slipping. I am getting ready to go and apply stoprot to it and put it back in freezer for another week then skin it out. Thanks in advance

I have not had to degrease a bobcat I have heard others say it's a must on cats or any furbearer for that matter but all of them that I have done didn't seem greasy (like a raccoon) to me. I haven't tried stop rot yet but I have tanned cats with Liqua tan, Lutan F and even Dry preserved a couple some years ago all with no hair slip. I use Krowtann 2000 now and couldn't be happier with the results. I would skin it with a dorsal incision as I find that makes them easy to mount on the form. hope this helps you out some.

Thanks for the help

Thank you for taking time to respond. I am going to use krowtann on it or Glen Conleys Whitetail Designer Systems. I thought about the krowtann because it seems so easy. But Glen is a genius and his stuff seems awesome. Ive been checking out his site and it looks awesome. I am almost out of my first bottle of Krowtann I have been happy with it.
