I am currently having problems with the nostril of a whitetail. I can't seem to make a smooth transition from the skin of the septum to the hairline around the outside. It's never as seamless and natural as it should be. I have tried the archives. Any advice? Thank you so musch.

What I do is leave about 1/4" of nose skin. Dig out the nostril on my form using reference. When mounting I tuck the skin into the nostril and stuff some plastic bag in there tightly. Let the mount dry. Remove the plastic, trim away any excess/rough nose skin. Then I take some apoxie sculpt (flesh) and put it in the nostril and smooth it out with my modeling tool and a paint brush. Hope this helps you, good luck, Kevin
I may be wrong in assuming this, but it sounds as if you're cutting off too much nostril skin. The only transition you should have to make if from the artificial septum to the skin itself. Blending should never be required out on to the fuzzy or hairp edges. Next time, leave a bit more skin inside the nostril for tucking. When you mount, insure that the skin is glued to the form. I pack my nostrils with plastic freezer wrap so that it doesn't get glued into the mount. After 3 or 4 days, I remove it and the skin is lying flat against the form and Apoxie work is minimal.
Not leaving enough skin could be part of your problem as stated above. Another problem could be an improper fit.During the fleshing preparation your nostril area may have stretched a bit.
Before mounting the nostrils, I apply a thin layer of Apoxy Sculpt around the nostril interior insted of hide paste. Useing a modeling tool over the nostril skin I adjust it to my referance. There is no need to stuff the nostrils with anything using this method. A word of caution here should be expressed. Epoxy is final. Make sure your nostril is to your liking. There is no adjusting or "do-overs" once the epoxy sets.
This should help in your septem to skin transition as there should be no lifting of the skin or wrinkles to try and hide. You will find your nostril finnishing work easier too. Good-Luck.

use very little All-Game. I love it. It blends beautifully and looks more fleshy. I hardly ever use apoxy sculpt. And as far as being final... I never found anything a dremmel couldn't remove, and I have removed and redone. Caution here is go easy. It doesn't take much to remove more then nessessary.
Thank you all, You have helped me a great deal.
