On a large bird form such as a turkey, do you use any kind of adhesive like hide paste for a shoulder mount? This will be my first large bird. Do you use any paste at all on any bird forms, or does the skin just dry to the form? Thanks for the help.

You can mount a turkey with no adhesive/caulk. I've done it several times with good results. You don't paste a bird mount like you do a mammal mount. Usually, bird taxidermy uses caulk in stead of hide paste. In fact, the caulk is used more for a filler than an adhesive. I caulk the wings, neck/chest, and back. Hope this helps.
Joe, I don't use any adhesive on turkeys. I use pins to lock in key points like the skin at the wing bases and to bring the feather groups into proper place. I remove the feet in preping most birds so I do use some super glue when attatching the skin to the top of the feet. Enjoy, Aaron H.
Thanks to James and Aaron for the bird advice. Wow, do I have a lot to learn!
