tanning question

I have tanned a few capes using lutan f. After taking the cape from the tanning solution I have always applied the tanning oil and waited a few days for the hide to dry. Then I would rehydrate and mount it. I think this would be called a dry tan. Can I mount the cape without letting it dry. Would I still apply the tanning oil,let it sit a couple hours and mount? Would the oil make the hide paste not work? Thanks for the advice in advance.

i let the oil soak in overnight then tumble and mount. as far as the oil, i put a little mineral spirits in with the sawdust, takes care of any excess oil.

I oil overnight after the tan, tumble in sawdust to remove excess oil, wire brush after tumble on the skin side and mount with Buckeye hide paste. I cant use spirits or wont use them due to the tumbler being indoors.
