When I look at your deer head and I realize that this is your first deer head I want to congratulate you on doing a pretty good job. Now, when I start to really look at it I notice that you really need to look at your reference's a little closer. Look at the eyes and you will find out that you really need to sculpt your eyes better with critter clay and also I really didn't see any earbutt detail nor any correct nostril detail. So, keep on trying and never give up and always use your references. Yeah, I know it's rather hard when you first start but, don't give up.
Good Luck

were probably the hardest for me. I have since learned some things I could have done much better. I did not get all of the proper detail in ear muscle structure. The nostrils were difficult as well. I just couldn't seem to get them right. Thanks John. I have seen your work and am very impressed.
The mount looks really good overall. You should buy the eye casts and ear butt casts to help you with refernce, also use a lot of photos. the reference casts help a lot
Thanks for the critique and John as well.
.
you got the basics down good. Its just a matter of fine tuning the details now, like you said, the ear base, eye shape etc. Good start. Congratulations.
Scott I think you did a pretty darn good job for your first deer. All of us beginners need to study a little more but I think Nancy, you and I did a pretty good job on our mounts. Practice makes perfect so let's keep practicing!
of the eyes. Not real sure how to do the eye's better. There are so many different looks.
