I'm a writer and I need to throw a few casual references to taxidermy in something I'm writing for a piece of historical fiction set in Maine in the 1930s. I've been able to find answers to most of my questions, but this one is still bugging me:
Obviously polyurethane foam wouldn't have been available to a rural taxidermist in the 1930s, so does anyone know what would have been used instead to replicate the interior of the animal?
Thanks in advance!

Most of us do. Next question?
The History Channel. It's all spelled out......
I can see you are still the same [expletive deleted] you have always been, as most people on this site perceive you to be, of course you have your little group of followers who think you are perfect and can do no wrong, or give a wrong answer. I think it is about time for you to step back and read all the answers you have given people through the years(you can find them by using the orange search button on the left of the screen) most likely just type in George Roof. I for one, are sick of reading your post. And as for not posting a name or email I am sure as smart as you are you can find me with a little research if you really want to, or you can just mouth off on this site about this message.
you guys dont need to be smart a.ses all the time.

Thanks, Patrick! Much appreciated.
Give John Janelli a call. There is no one in this Industry that has the historical knowledge of this profession as he does. I was going to assume a paper or rosin form, but you know what they say about assumption. Here's John's number: 201-319-0061.

Mary
I may be giving him a call. I'm not sure I'll need to, since all I need are passing references, but if it turns out I run into more, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks so much.
Whatever I am, I'll never be the gutless cretin you are because I do have a name and I also have an address that's posted at least once per thread. So where does that leave spineless snails like you? Lately we've seen a lot of this type posting. In more than one incidence, the person wanting the information was NOT treating taxidermists in a postive light. Some of you people are too gullible as I might be too leery of such things.
C. McCarthy, I apologize if you are for real and not someone trying to paint us into the Bates Motel. Your question still leaves much to wonder as if you did any research on the taxidermy methods used during that period, for any periodical of the time or any studies of museums, the answers you look for are just as readily available. John can certainly help you, but he will be much more indepth than you could have gotten from most taxidermists living within a few minutes of where you are.
You've never contributed anything here anyway, so why wasn't I surprised to hear you being your usual useless self again. I notice YOU didn't help C. McCarthy either. HERE'S YOUR SIGN!
weve definately got our quota in here
