what would you guys recommend for sewing deer capes. I have heard people say berkley fireline. then i have heard people say use cape thread, Thanks alot

Both would work. I heard people say fire line cuts the cape.

Button and carpet thread. That stuff is strong.


Fireline is still the better choice for longevity

It doesn't rot and it is self lubricating and holds its shape without kinking or twisting. It will not cut the cape if you don't stand on it with both feet to cinch your cape together. It cuts simply because its too strong to break. Once you try it, you'll never go back to anything else.

What weight of fireline do you use for...say, deer? Bobcat/fox?

Only because I got a great deal on the entire spool from a sportings good place that was shutting down. I use #30 on the bigger guys. I'd use even finer thread on the small guys.
