If you used McKenzie tan you do not need any more oil for capes or thin skins, if you are doing thicker hides for rugs or flat skins you probably shouls do a second oiling with a light tanning oil

why Mike?

I get no stretch out of the McKenzie tan unless I oil after the tan. Any oil is better than no oil.

You always oil

Always use oil but heres the best tip you'll ever get with mounts dont mess with tanning just use borax unless you like spending about 40.00 for tan and oil or about 5.00 for borax. borax- you just skin, flesh, rub borax in .There you go now send me the 35.00 and i'll buy my deer shoulder mount
