Fleshing and tanning a coon

I have searched the little orange button with out an exact answer to what I want to know, I just skinned a racoon today and the only problem I had was getting the toes to turn all the way, I was only able to get them to about the knuckle joint and cut them off. I also salted it right away, do I have to flesh it before salting? Always salted and then fleshed, makes the stuff come off a little easier I think. What should I use to degrease it? I was always told kerosene. One more question, can I cure it with borax for mounting or do I have to use an actual tan? If a tan, what's the best recomended one? Thanks!

turn the toes, inject them with Preserv-its, after its mounted. This will keep the toes from shrinking so bad. It will also aid in keeping the bugs out. You can fleash the coon on a wire wheel bench grinder. It is a bit messy, but does a good job for the begginer.
Hope this helps!

SO I don't need to get the toes all the way out?

Can I leave the bones in the toes than? Was thinking of using a bench grinder but wasn't sure if it would work or not. Should I use Krowtann to tan it than or how should I preserve it? Thanks!
