my hunting buddy lost his dog (it ran away) and he's pretty shook up about it (its been 2 months). i'm pretty sure that the dog isn't coming back. so a couple of days ago i realised that i had the last bird that "charley" flushed and retreived. i mounted the bird for him and im going to suprised him with it as a gift. i was wondering how much you guys charge for a walking ring neck pheasant on a base that is 36" wide by 12" deep. also i have about a 1000 individual pieces of grass on the base that i all put in by hand. i also have about 40 hours in this thing already. im just a hobbist and only do my own birds, so i dont know how much i would charge if someone wanted me to do the same thing for them.
thanks Patrick L.

Sometimes putting every individual piece on is not the way look at a filed the under laying of dirt then debris then grass. 200 bucks is what I charge for a standing ringneck but if I glued every piece of grass on I couldn't afford to do it. Don't take this as a rip just as there are better ways to get it done faster and it looks real.

If he is your friend maybe you should do this pheasant for free.
Friendship is worth more than money and i think he will apreciate it and rember it alot longer.
Unless of course your buddy already gave you the bird and planned on paying to have it mounted? otherwise, I would think it to be a bit awkward handing something as a "gift" along with a bill for that gift...
...and they all hunt, thats probably why we know each other. For my closest ones (The ones who know where my stands are located), I made a deal. First mount is free. After that, its the same price as everyone else. All 3 of them were cool with that!
in my first post i said "i mounted the bird for him and im going to suprised him with it as a gift." just curious how much people charge for standing mounts on bases with habitat that i have a ton of hours into.
patrick reread your first post.Sorry for the misunder standing.I read the post pretty fast.Good luck with your taxidermy.
