help with stopping points

I was wondering at what points in the mounting process (whitetail shoulder mounts) can you safely take a break? I am very slow and methodical when putting together a mount, and sometimes I find myself still working at 2 am. How do you part time guys manage? I assume you do all your form prep ahead of time, and so do I. However, sometimes it can take me 6 to eight hours to pull cartilage from the ears, insert earliners, sew up holes, mount the hide, tuck the skin, taxi, sew up, etc. I know I will get faster as I go, but I could really use some help. Is it safe to bag the head with a plastic bag, and finish sewing and tucking, etc. on day 2?

RD you can bag the head and do touch up work the second day. Try a short Y or between the burr incision for less sewing time. Also, bondo ears may be faster since you are beginning. Just some suggestions. Good luck!

you can stop anytime. Like mimes said just bag it. I do all my prep work, except setting clay, the day before. Scuff, remove cartilege, install earliners, etc.. Put the cape in a bag and then in the frig. Next day mount, til I feel like quitting, put large bag over it and go to the house. If you have any questions e-mail me.

Good question

I'm a 2 am finisher like yourself. I don't like stopping in the middle but sometimes a break is good. It's nice to know when you're not the only one going through something.
