brisket alignment and excess skin

Hi, I have problems knowing what to do with the excess skin in the arm pits and brisket area when mounting deer and elk. When I align the leg skin and centre the brisket there is always too much skin. Should I cut deep slots in the arm pits and tuck it in ? Or is it better to cut off the excess and tuck? Your expertise would be greatly appreciated.

Cut deep tucking slots, but make them look like a true pit, and not just a notch or crotch. If you post your address, and I can send you a few pictures, so you can see what I am talking about.

You're not "packing" the skin properly

That brisket can be squeezed together a great deal. In fact, if the hair doesn't form a clean straight line where it folds together, you don't have it "packed" properly. Also, you may not be pulling the hide to the rear far enough. Use a good hide past and align your anatomical markers. MAKE the hide fit properly. You should never have to cut a relief cut in that area of a deer shoulder mount.
