I am wanting to defrost a badger (European) but I am concerned about hair spillage problem. My question is this: How can I defrost this animal whilst preventing hair slippage, especially around the head?
My thoughts are to use an anti-bacteria solution on the skin but I don't think that it will solve the problem as it only treats the surface. Our current temperature is about 15 degrees celcius (60 F) and so defrosting will take alot longer than your nice warm climate in the USA.
Your help will be appreciated.
Kindest regards

and let it thaw slow.
Or just let it sit out overnight and thaw.
I would set it out over night, maybe on the floor of the shop?
The concrete floor in my shop keeps them from thawing to fast.
Skin it as soon as you can pry the legs apart from the body.
The head, Feet and legs will thaw out over night, the body will still be solid I bet.
using the soulution you suggest would work too.
The hair will only be slipping on the surface, nothing to do with the insides unless the animal is rotted. If that was the case, you will not be able to save the skin.
You can further protect the animal by putting paper towels up the vent holes and inside the mouth the keep fluids from leaking out onto the skin.
Thank you for your responses. I will do that to defrost the specimens - yes, I realise that I should have caped the badger when I got it but life is a good learner.
