Urgent Dermestid beetle quesiton!

Submitted by Easton on 4/19/06 at 4:36 PM. ( ) 69.178.193.86

I just checked on my beetle colony and found white, wormlike creatures in my tank. I think they are maggots but was wondering if they are a stage of dermestid metamorphosis. There have been flys laying eggs on my screen top and some probably fell through. If they are maggots, what should I do? Remove and kill them? or will the beetles kill them? Give me some advice please and quick, I need an answer quick as to prevent any negative effects on my colony. Thank you.

Give me the dimensions of the size screen you would need to cover your tank, and I will send you a piece of screen that no insects (or their eggs) can penetrate. It will be free unless you try to negotiate a lower price!

it's for a ten gallon tank, let me know if you need actual dimensions and I'll email you my address. I appreciate the kindness. They don't seem to be hurting anything, they are just burying in the cedar wood chips underneath the tinfoil and skulls. I've taken out all that I have seen but I know there are still more. I will keep removing them as I spot them. I am going fishing this weekend anyway. LOL. Thank you.
