I am working on breaking and softening an otter pelt and am wondering if (in absence of a tumbler with hardwood sawdust) I can use the clothes dryer (set on No Heat) and tumble the pelt with a load of dry towels to help clean the and fluff the hair? I am braking by hand and will continue to do so, but for cleaning and fluffing, will the dryer work or will it ruin the fur?
Thanks.

altered extensively.
Not only to plug every vent area with bondo, but also de-electrified in the area of eltronic pilot ignition, glow plugs, heating elements, etc.
Some have fan blades asttached to thet "drive shaft" making the dryer a saw dust "explosion" of DUST all over your shop. That fan must be disabled.
Be prepareed for sawdust to be on the floor and in the motor compartment and will build up around the motor to stall it out, occasionally.
Scheduled mainentance is a must to remove sawdust build up in the motor area.
< >Just use a contractors black gagrabage bag with the corn cob and sawdust and liberally shake for 20 minutes.< >
A converted dryer can work ...ok... and many shops have them for the purpose your questions are asking...
