splitting eyes?

I saw a video yesterday from "American Taxidermy Online". The guy in the video fleshed very well around the eyes but he did not split them. I have not watched the mounting portion of the video yet to see how he mounted but is this something that a lot of people do? Also he used a cream tan wich looked a lot easier, is this as good as a regular tan? What is a good kind? thanks

He probably just cut off the tissue up to the outer lid where he wouldn't be tucking the lids under clay. That's common if you're using mannikins with pre-installed eyes. That's my guess. I dont think he left all that tissue around the eye. If he did, it's time to update your video. We could debate what tan to use till the cows come home. I use McKenzie brush on.

I like John Rhineharts tanning cream. George goes on and on about this stuff and I tried it the other day and absolutly love it! You wouldn't believe the stretch you can get with that stuff and it is so easy to use! I plan on trying Krowtann to but I always salted my hides and don't have any that arn't to test that on. JOhn Rhineharts is great though, you can get it from McKenzie, item # 475468 for a quart $17.35 and 475469 for a gallon $50.90
