What is the shelf life for the Epo-Grip product Ear Magic? I am a looking at using the product but I don't do a lot of mounts currently. I don't want to invest in a product that I my waste half of if I don't use it soon enought. I checked on the the Manufactures web site and could not find the specs and did look some with the orange button.

Thanks,

Mike,

We warranty you, the customer, one year from the date of purchase. Regardless if it was from a distrubutor or purchased direct. Epoxy products are all petroleum based. So keeping that in mind if you keep the lids sealed tightly then you will experience great storage results. We all know what happens to a gallon of Laquer Thinner or Acetone when it is stored for a long duration. The same can occur with epoxies too. All containers leak to a certain extent, but with proper storage techniques you can limit it.

We have retains of Ear Magic that are over 3 years old and are in excellent working order. You may find that over a prolonged period that the material will become stiff. Just unscrew the top, warm it in a microwave for a few seconds then stir the product with a tongue depressor. If stored correctly the stiffness mainly will be due to the settling of the fillers.

We recommend first that you work your material down evenly out of the containers. Second, keep the lids screwed down tight even if you use the material daily. If you are not going to use one of our products for a awhile, store them upside down. This does a few things to extend the life of your product. The bottom of the container is sealed, most of the leakage/flashing occurs at the lid seal. Second, any air which can cause surface skinning, will be forced to the bottom of the container. If skinning should occur you won't have to work through it. Third, if there is any settling of the fillers it will be at the top when you open the container for use. Last, store your material somewhere reasonably cool. If you are looking to get the most bang out of your buck, the metal shed in the backyard would not be a good option.
