Do I need to prime fish mannikins before I put hide paste on or doesn't matter?Can I use fin backing cream ? I have already sanded the form so it is rough.I am just beginning to do fish and I am teaching myself.

As long as you sanded it that's fine.
Yes you can use fin backing cream or any other acrylic caulking will do.
