Sodium bicarbonate is the same chemically as magnesium carbonate, the powdery substance you're going to want to use with the H2O2 to paint on the skulls. It's much easier to search magnesium carbonate than sodium bicarbonate. Sodium carbonate is more commonly referred to as sal soda or soda ash. Its a powder used in soaps, and a good chemical to use in skull maceration when boiling skulls. It degrees and whitens to a degree also, but with the peroxide, go for the magnesium carbonate/sodium bicarbonate. Mix it with a small amount of the H2O2 to form a paste that won't drip and paint it on the skull. Wrap the skull with kitchen wrap to make it work better and put in the sun if possible. I leave it for about two days, and use a brush to remove the powder when its all done, before giving it a good rinse. You can reuse the powder, but its so cheap that its not necessary.

thanks!
