If you get a form that is very close to your measurements the skin should fit. I have no problem with a significant gap along the wallside as long as the dorsal and ventral fins are aligned properly...eh? I have found that a soak(2 days) in a borax solution will yield a very loose and flexible skin that will stretch significantly. Don't over stretch or you will have scales lifting.
If indeed the form is "way" too big I would suggest you buy a size OR TWO smaller. I never alter a commercial form.I have a very large inventory of various size forms that were "way off" and now I use them to prefit skins. If I have a form that fits well, I ORDER ANOTHER ONE just like it. Use one on the fish and keep the other to test on the next skin. Of course, there is the carving option next time. If you carve, your fitting problems are over. Good luck Jay.

thanks
