what is the deer that you consider a "rappresentative" trophy
in terms of score and number of points in your area?

Good Representative

My considerations of a good trophy consist of a deer over 8 points scoring no less than 140. I consider all 8 points to be management deer no matter what the score or age. That doesn't mean I support shooting any deer under 4 years of age because I don't. Preferably they will reach 5 years. This is in south central to south texas. This has the potential to be an interesting post, good idea.

Representative vs Trophy Class

Lollo, Though I shouldn't assume anything, I get the impression that you aren't overly experienced at judging whitetails, hence your question. In most cases, Darrell's version of what constitutes a trophy buck is pretty much accepted in most parts of the US. The cult of whitetail trophy hunting in this country has gotten a bit out of hand in the opinions of many, myself included. While the taking of a high scoring buck is the highlight of most hunter's "career", there are other criteria for an animal being a trophy. I know that to many I'm stating the obvious here, I would like to point out that I have seen some freak 6 and 7 point bucks that wouldn't score worth a damn, but would sure rate a position of honor on my wall. On the other hand, if you want to go by the book, any mature 8 point that scores over 140 is certainly a good starting point. You could hunt for several lifetimes in parts of the southeast and northeast without seeing a buck of that caliber. I would say that in the meccas of the whitetail world, like South Texas, Kansas, Illinois, Iowa, Saskatchewan and Alberta, true trophy status probably starts at 150 B.C. One thing to note is that a 130 class rack on a 120 pound Texas Hill country buck will look more impressive than a 140+ class rack on a 250 pound northern deer. Hold your fire until you see a buck that impresses YOU, and you will have your trophy deer, regardless of what anyone else thinks. Good luck.

Depends on the area you are from.

I have hunted areas where a 140 would be a trophy, 8 points would be a trophy.

It depends on your ideals of what a rep or trophy is.

Having hunted family land in IL almost every season of my life, I have nothing less than 160s on the wall. I consider those reps for the area where I hunt, as I have several over 180.

Now if you go down in the Ozarks around West Plains MO. a 130 and it being 8 points is a trophy, a rep for that area is 6 points and 80.
If you shot an 8 point that scored in the 180s you would make every paper in south MO and North AR and be taked about for several years, many would think you headlighted the deer.

So dont set a standard for deer in general, it must be broken down by areas.
