Wednesday afternoon I placed 4 WT capes in 2oz of saftee acid, 20 gallons of water and 4lbs of salt. PH level at 1.5 . Thursday afternoon, check PH level; 2.0 . Added 1/2oz of saftee acid. Now PH level at 1.5 . NOW I take out my new salimeter and place in pickle. No reading? Took out and look at notes and realized should have put in 20lbs of salt. OOPS! Added 16lbs of salt, but still no reading on salimeter. Just a red solid at the bottom. Is it broke? Did I do something wrong? Think capes will be ok? I am using directions from McKenzie Catalog. Calls for 5gal of water, 1/2 oz saftee acid, 1lb salt per gallon. Thanks, Scott

Scottz, you have to read the meter as it floats in the solution. Where the water line is on the meter tells you what the salinity is. The stuff in the bottom doesn't move. Hope this helps. Bill
Also - use 1/2 fl. oz. of Saftee per each 1 gallon of water. So for 20 gls. add 10 fl. ozs. of Saftee Acid to get the dosage correct.
Added 8oz more acid, got 50% on Salimeter. Hopefully all goes well!
