I hope I am not the only one who has ever done something like this before. OK I am ROOKIE still. I just received a Used Quebec lite fleshing machine not to long ago. Well today was the first time I really got to sit down and mess with it. I used it for awhile getting used to it on a scrap piece of hide I had. I had been practicing for a awhile and I decided to change the Guards a little on the front of it. Well I did. Well I figured I would leave the plastic covering off in cas it needed more adjustment. Started fleshing again then it happened Out of habit I guess from the earlier practicing, I leaned onto the machine as if the plastic covering was on it. Man! I damn near lost a nipple! A little bit more one way and I would have had only one nipple left. Man I damn near cut a flip off the stool I was sitting on.
I am an Idiot. Now on a more serious note, This machine is awesome. Makes the fleshing so much simpler. It now makes my MINI Flesher look ridiculous. You older guys know what your talking about when you say get a real fleshing machine and stay away from the mini flesher.
Tip of the day:: make sure the cover is on the fleshing machine!

Lack of attention and rushing

I was making a cut with a razor knife using a metal ruler as a straight edge and guide. Being in a hurry I didn't pay attention to where my thumb, which was holding down the ruler was when I made the cut, and wound up slicing off about a quarter inch where it was overhanging the ruler. Ouch!
