Moose Antlers - Do you have to seal them?

I am finishing up a moose antler mount and several people have asked if I put anything on the antlers to protect them. So far I planned to leave them natural. They have lighten a bit and the spread have shank 2 inches from 55".

It is necessary to seal or otherwise apply anything to the antlers for preservation?

They do not put a sealer on them. Natural is the one and only way to go with a mount.
