I am a new guy, Rookie in the taxidermy industry. I am not a member of the NTA. I was considering joining, because you see I am very excited about taxidermy, just like you people were at one time. Hell, I cant wait for the day to come that I can't catch up. I get up everyday excited about going to my shop to mount something or work on something new that I havent tried as of yet. I bet alot of you were like that at one time. You would have had to be in order to still be doing it today for a living.
You people have brought this out into a public forum for all to see. I wouldnt join the NTA for nothing right now. If the NTA Can't sit down in a room like adults and professionals and HASH out its problems with out all the mudslinging and bad blood , In no way shape or form do I want to be a member.
I imagine for all the new taxidermists looking in and following this crap on here alot feel like I do. Although I will not speak for them they will have to their selves.
I some day would like to be part of the NTA, but not what it appears like today. What people perceive is what it is, Truth or not. It looks like a pile of sh1t from where I am sitting.
If you have to get law enforcement, attorneys etc. involved to keep a meeting from coming to physical assaults you folks better get it done. You are killing your Organization.
Just wanted to let you people know what this rookie taxidermist thinks. If you dont give a damn so be it. Its only one new guy----------MAYBE.

You are right on Swampfoot.
Swampfoot, The NTA is made up of many good hearted people.They are the type of people that believe in this industry.
What you read here is an attack of a few people who use thier egos and cause problems for all. They make some people look bad and others look worse then try to make themselves look like the hero in a white coat to save the day. They are the wolf in sheeps clothing.
Sometimes weeding through the bad eggs takes time. In time the real truth will come out.
It's never a good thing to have your name slandered,and what these posts do is just that. To many good and honest people on both sides.
I try to stay out of this stuff but must defend the NTA as a whole because these people that do this cause the prolems and start a power struggles seem to forget.
The NTA is for the Members and not any one person.

The NTA is a good organazation but could be in need of new leadership. Each year there is another problem. Buffalo,Rinehardt,Janelli,Kish,Mark Wilson,secret phone recordings,threats of lawsuits, items not being allowed to come up for a vote, rejecting sound legal advice from a qualified person willing to donate their time, Meyer ( I threw that last one in there for georges benifit)... the list of points of contention is endless. I feel that it is time for all the old members who have left because of problems with the NTA should join up and make the changes needed. If the PTA or other large group simply had all its members join AND VOTE they could take over the NTA board with no problem. I think that so many have had some sort of issue over the past 20 or thirty years it is time to shake it up and change the "powers that be". If we could start fresh without all the personallity clashes I think it would be a better organization.I feel that having people who were elected do there jobs and not appointed people do it would be a start in the right direction. Yes ...I know that I caused my share of controversy during my term but I feel that the problems here are even bigger than I could ever cause...just my thoughts.
if enough good people join it will become what we make it a good NTA IN THE END
maybe the current microscope doesnt look good but sometimes nothing short of a war can bring about the change it takes

I am not a member and have thoughts of joining but with all the mudslinging... It seems that they need a total overhaul. I have read some really good ideas, Tony Finazzo's idea of different levels of memberships for one. I think this shakeup will be good to clean out all the "cobwebs". But unfortunately there are goingto be a lot of hard feelings and pushed out lower lips over this one. It is going to take a while for it all to simmer down. It's hard for anyone to tell what is truth in this and what is fabricated. I think I'll wait and see when and where the sh#t finally lands.

Come to Billings and when you get to registration,have them page me. I'll pay your registration fee and I'll tell you exactly where I'll be so you can spend a great week avoiding me and enjoying the learning process that a convention is all about. The NTA is a family and families always tend to fight over certain issues. Most families keep it quieter that we've managed to do on this one.
then the first step to take is to become a member. You have no voting right or say so in the NTA's affairs unless you become a member. So in order to change things for the better, you must be a member. Join the NTA Swampfoot. It may not be a perfect organization, then again which organization is, but the amount of information you could gain by being a member greatly outweights any faults the NTA may have.
Only NTA members can better the organization by voting in and out the people of choice, and by making their voices heard.
