hello, i have only mounted a handfull of mounts (only blacktail deer, black bear, and bobcats) but i have a mule deer and elk to paint now. the blacktail i paintedi just used black on the nose pad and a rich brown/dark brown mix. should i paint the same on the mule deer, how about a white tail? if i use the same pait schedule for all deer is there a perfered mix of rich brown and dark brown? ive just been guessing. how about the elk? are elk painted the same as a deer? as you can see i have still got a long way to go. but thanks for any tips you can give. i have lots of reference picts just dont know all of the colors. thanks again.
steve

Put a clear plastic sheet protector over your ref. pic. paint on the plastic trying to match the colors in the photos. This method will serve you well for all species you will ever do.
