I have collected tails from some dead horseshoe crabs on the beach. I would like to make things out of them but i need to get the remaining meat off the base of the tail. is there a way i can do this fairly easily and with limited supplies?
i'd appreciate any help
thanks

Boiling water?

Can't say how well it would work as I've never plunked one of the critters into a pot. The dead ones don't turn color like dead crabs and lobsters do on the beach so I don't think you will have a problem with the shell turning color. A dunk in boiling water for 5 min or so might do it.

and work it up and down inside the tail and keep doing it until nothing comes out. Set it out in the yard and let flies lay some eggs in them and let sit a few days in the shade. Maggotts will finish cleaning the little pieces.
It is better if the tails were in the shade and covered to keep moisture in them as the maggots will not be able to work with the dried tails.
