I need some opinions. My dad gave me a turkey fan to try and do a fan mount for him. Here's the problem... It is about 2 years old and when he killed the bird he cut the tail off and tacked it in the fanned position on a board. To make a long story short after all the rehydrating and degreasing I've come to the conclusion that it is going to be easier to take all the feathers out and piece them back together as best I can. What would be the best way to put them back together? I have considered clay, bondo, foam then bondo. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have tried the search button and can't seem to come up with anything. Thanks.

Have fun with the project. You have an ideqa how they all lay and how they look...so your choice is how to set them permante. Super glue will work to get them in position, then use a permante method to secure.
Thanks for the suggestion. I had completely overlooked the hot glue option. I bought flat block of foam and planned on just pinning it to get the feathers in place and then going back with something that will hold them together better. Hot glue will do the trick. I'll give it a try and let you know how it works.
You can use the clay to hold the feathers in place from behind and then mix up bondo, or use hot glue on the front side. YOu can even use a small strip of clay to insert the tips of all the tail feathers into to hold them in place and then lay it out flat and secure them.
The styrofoam idea is also good. Cut out a round flat shape and insert the tips of the feathers around like a fan and then you can attach them permanantly.
