i skinned my first bass today.and it all went well until i discoverd i cut the throat area out.the only thing thats in the mouth is gills.when i insert the form you can see the form looking thruogh the mouth.can i do something with this. a closed mouth.is there something i can put in the mouth or do i have to get a reproduction?

If so, don't worry about it. Mount it up open mouthed as usual. Once dried get some reference pics of the throat detail. Shove some Apoxie Sculpt down there and spread around evenly. Take the back of a screw driver handle or a similar object and make a "hole" indent with that into the epoxy. Now, finish off as best you can with modelling tools, your fingers or whatever else you need to sculpt in some detail.
Everybody's different, but to me the customer's aren't paying for incredible throat detail. The mount is mean't to be looked at from a distance and in commercial taxidermy, it isn't worth spending the time on something that somebody has to take a flashlight to see. Regardless, IF you want to take the time to sculpt it in - with some good reference it should be a piece of cake...
what i have done. when skinning i didnt pull the lower meat back and expose the esophagus.i just cut all the throat area out.well i guess ive just learned the hard way,but now i know.thanks for the tip marty.ill have to do what you suggested since i screwed up.i appreciate the help you guys give.thanks a million.
