Turkey Legs

Submitted by Eric on 7/2/06 at 7:07 PM. ( ) 205.208.227.45

I was wondering, I want to put some turkey legs on a fan mount what do I use to cover the ends of the turkey legs to hide the bone? And what kind of leather straps do hang I hang them on?

Thanks
Eric

This is just what I do...I cut the upper ends of the legs off at a steep angle, so that when they are placed together, the spurs and feet are facing each other, with a small amount of distance between them. I attach these to the panel with polished brass nails, pre-drilling the holes in the legs first. There are no ends to cover, since the legs are together at the top of this "A" configuration. Tint them with a intense red, toned down with a little black, then seal with gloss. My customers really like this...been doing them for years.

Use Apoxy

My husband uses apoxy on the top of the legs. It is easy to use and you can smooth it out and paint it if you want to. As for the strings most turkey fan mounts have a place to put the feet at. All you have to do is screw the top back on to the panel. WASCO has these panels.
