Confused on Pedestal Form Description?

Submitted by Mike on 7/8/06 at 3:19 PM. ( ) 208.193.163.216

I am doing my first pedestal mount and am looking at what form to use, I am confused from the description and pictures in the Van Dykes Catalog. The cape I am using has a large hole on the left side of teh shoulder, I will do my best to fix it but would prefer that side not to be seen when on the wall. So when the form says "left turn pedestal" or "right turn pedestal" what does this mean. Does this mean left side of the deer's body will be showing the most when on the wall or does it mean the deer's head is slightly looking left? I am getting myself confused when typing this so I hope you understand what I mean. I basically want the right shoulder to be shown when on the wall so do I need a left or right turn pedestal form? Like always thanks, Mike

Right Turn Pedistal...

...Is like ANY right turn. The form is turned to the animals right, your left as you look at it. It means that the animal's LEFT shoulder will be toward the wall. If I read your explaination correctly, the damage on your cape is on the animals left shoulder so the right turn is what you want.

OK

a pedestal mount is NOT mounted on the wall - it is mounted on a pedestal. You will see the back of that form, the curved part.
