Did A search for work Table, and didnt find what I was looking for.I am going to build a table for my shop, I will be doing Deer heads and a few fish a few birds and hopefully small mammals up to coyote and bobcat size. I will be skinning, fleshing, the whole nine yards. I am a little cramped for space so I was wondering what size table I should build, and what to top it wiyh? I have watched a few videos and noticed a White topped table might help inseeing a little better.Or should I urathane it? Thought about that thick commercial tile you used to see in schools but wasnt sure about seems and moisture.I have 5 kids and my pocket book is thin so any Ideas and help is greatly apprecciated thanks Tim

Table

The table that I have had for twenty years is the top off of an office desk that I put a set of folding legs on that I got from Harbor Freight. It has withstood everything that you can imagine and Bondo and epoxy can be popped off with a putty knife after it sets. I even fold it up and take it to hunting camp and use it as a cook table, just don't tell everyone what you use it for.

I have a brand new still in the box white enameled top for a Dakota flesher. It's 32"-32" you would have to build a base for it. Make me an offer and pay shipping from Pa. It should last you a lifetime.

You can get a nice table at Sams club for about $95. Or, I had a sheet metal shop bend a sheet of stainless to mount on top of a bench that I build to the size I needed. Works great.

Use 3/4" CDX plywood and then you can

drill holes in it to hold things, anchor driftwood to it with drywall srcews, adjust airbrush mist on it if you, or do whatever. I like a wood top table. Mine is round (48"), so when I am painting fish, I can sit in one place and rotate it from fish to fish w/o having to move. It is mounted in a base that I can adjust the height up or down if I wish also. My original workbench has sh...oops "stuff" piled on it that I sort through every day to use.

Mt lion, coyote

I have a table that is topped with wood(Im not sure what kind of wood cuz I had a carpenter friend of mine make it for me, it not plywood, its like a 1/2 inch thick or better kind of like paneling wood, not really sure that real name of it) that is 3 ft. square, I put a coat of linseed oil on it every year. For something the size of a bobcat or small coyote or fox it works great. But for a large coyote or maybe a mt. lion (if I ever get one) I just skin them on the floor of my shop. I know I know Im 23 and I can do that now cuz I have a young back, but thats just my way of doin it (for now, untill im too old and decreped) Good luck to ya with yur table, Kevin

Tim, I used a half sheet of plywood for the top which gives me plenty of room for large elk antlers and small mammals and built the base out of 4x4's and 2x4's. I coated the top with garage floor coating sold at Home Depot, it's durable and cleans easily with a mop after skinning.

Menards

Some tables I find useful are the tables that Menards sells. They are a white polyurethane top, very sturdy, and have folding legs underneath. I have four but usually fold one or two up and stand them up over in the corner until deer season, then I get all of them set up and use one for caping, another for salting etc.
They are easily cleaned, and all epoxy spills etc pop right off once they dry. The price for a 3 x 6 is around 25 dollars if I remember correctly, and they have a variety of sizes.

Table top

I bought a section of counter top from Lowe's just like in houses and built a stand for it about belly button high. The height is very important for each person due to standing in front of it bent over for long periods of time working. This cleans up easy and last a long time.
