I have been on here off and on since its creation. What some times is interpeted as rude or harsh answers pertain to the fact that if someone just typed their question in the search window (orange button) and hit search that they would get all the answers. not just the one wfrom whoever happened to be on today. this would mean you got more answers as well as more information for far less work and wait time. Yes we all were newbies at some point even George. LOL People also read too much into the written word and place expressions where it may not have been intended. That being said welcome aboard. Ken doies a great job enforcing the rules as he can find time. He has far more to do that police us as we should all be grown up but we should all use the site as it was intended and that does include the orange button. But as i stated welcome aboard and keep at it.

attention new comers, we shall go over this again

1. You do not have any new questions that have not been asked before. They may be new to you, but not to the archive. I have even asked them myself. The answers to every question ever asked is in the archive, there are no new questions under the sun, please use the search button. If then you do not find what you are looking for, ask away, and we will show you where to find it in the archives.
2. Do not let some print on your monitor get under your thin skin. You are miles away in front of your computer, how can you get hurt?
3. I bet even you have treated someone in your family with short blunt answers in the past.
4. Expect to do your own homework around here. It is no different from when you went to school. If you have a tough technical question, someone will help.
5. Never look a gift horse in the mouth. Even if you do not like the horse.

Well said, Mr T...

The other day I directed to the search button someone who wanted to know "how to attach a skull to a panel". That has to be the most often asked question. I thought I would get 1000 strings on the topic, but around 100 showed up. I really like to help someone new, but it is ridiculous to re-invent the wheel everytime someone asks a FAQ. We live in the information age, and it is often taken for granted. I would have given an "arm and a leg" for information on this site when I was new. Unfortunately, the only computer around then was probably being developed by NASA!

Ask the right questions

Doug, I started checking out this site a couple of years ago and what I found is you just have to ask the right questions. I didn't know about the orange search button because it didn't come up on the page I had entered from. I was very glad when someone told me because it opened up tons of info to me. Many people just ask broad ill defined questions and yes they get smart alec remarks. What would you expect? I have found that if you ask specific semi-intelligent questions with a level of humbleness and a thankful attitude, you'll get great responses from some very experienced taxidermists.

Doug, you haven't stated anything new...

What good is a question and answer forum if you are not allowed to ask questions? If every question already has an answer then why do they allow people to post?

Why even look at posts

This response submitted by Michael on 7/26/06 at 1:01 AM. ( ) 71.244.157.221

For you people that have smart comments to someone who is wanting to learn. Why are you even lookin at the post in the first place, If all the answers to every question is already there in the archives. If you say your not going to find any new questions then why are you even on here just to tell someone how stupid they are for leaving a question. I was always taught if you have a question but never ask then how will you learn. So if you can have the time to leave a smart a-- comment then you should have time to leave a good answer to their question.

The only stupid question

is the one not asked.

try adding a name

This response submitted by Leslie on 7/26/06 at 9:29 AM. ( ) 71.85.1.72

Someone once suggested that once I get a good feel for who answers questions honestly and in a way that I understand, I should search my question and add that person's name. It has helped me a lot to search this way. Of course, I seem to come up with 10 more questions for every question I search, but each thread provides more info.
