To put your frozen animals in cold water to thaw them out. I have a bobcat to skin out but with this heat wave been waiting to thaw it out. What kind of time frame will it take to thaw in water about 36 hours to thaw on the shop floor to hot to let it sit out that long. Thanks for your input.

Cold water and some Kemol-4 should take about 6-9 hours.
Good luck.

I skin them frozen.

I just allow the ears to thaw and then skin with the body still frozen. Eliminates the blood and guts spilling everywhere and LESSENS THE CHANCE OF SLIPPING FUR.

10 hours, sometimes less. As for the heat its been about 100 here in south alabama. I pull mine out the nite before and are ready to go in the am.

There is an Idea, Why not skin them out before freezing them. Better all the way around.

I also like to skin my mammals while they are still partially frozen. I want the legs to be able to move with effort but the core be frozen. I do find that if they are hard frozen I have much more of a tendancy to cut holes in the thin skin. I want it thawed enough so the skin membrane will stretch to prevent cutting thru. I have put mammals into a safety acid pickle to thaw if I was concerned about slipping.
