Degreasing Skulls

i was wondering if you should degrease all skulls? and if so how do you know when they have been in the degreasing solution long enough?

all skulls have some grease, some are just greasier than others. Skulls whiten up when the grease is removed from them, this is how I can tell they are done.

what would be best to use acetone petrol im not too sure either any tip,s would be welcome thankyou DANIEL

Mike, go and log on to hidetanning.net and read the skull cleaning article. It will pretty much answer any question you may have on skull cleaning.

Sorry to disagree with Easton, but not all skulls need to be degreased. In fact, if they are cleaned properly, most skulls DO NOT require additional degreasing. If a skull does need degreasing, use either a commercial degreaser, like Rittel's Bloodout and degreaser, or Dawn dishwashing soap. Both work a lot better, and are safer, then the acetone.
