The VA pays for academically accredited schools and some technical education. Taxidermy is considered much like needlepoint and quilting so it doesn't qualify. I've been out 11 years so it may have changed and I not heard of it.

George is right

I am still in, and have looked into it. G.I. Bill is another no-go. Sorry Armondo, but it looks like we have to foot the bill ourselves if we want to go to school. Sucks, huh?

VA will pay...

and the GI Bill paid for a part of my schooling. It depends of the school is VA approved and it also depends on how long you attend it and how many hours you put in. That was the only thing I used my GI Bill on and now the rest of the money is the governments. You only have 10 years to use it or lose it. My wife didn't use hers at all. Use it before you lose it. There use to be a school up by Chicago that use to teach Taxidermy but I think they closed down the program. As far as I know there are no more schools in Illinois. There is one in Missouri that started about 4-5 years ago (I think) not sure if they are VA approved but I know the one I went to has closed it's doors too now. I live in Illinois and searched and searched when I first realized I wasnted to go to school. Good Luck, Dan Hudzik

You just have to look for them and find which one is for you. Now as far a Illinois goes. COuldnt tell you. But wether you are Voc Rehab qualified or Just using you MGIB. There are some that will accept it. There are certain stipulations that you need to be aware of if you are going this route. Email me if you have more in depth questions. I am active duty and getting ready to make this exact transition.
