Okay I just placed an order thru WASCO.

Here is my list

Dry Preservative,
Stop Rot,
Krowtann 2000,
Vic knife,
"Perfect" knife,
3 in Skinning knife (vic),
Skife,
SS deluxe scalpel handle,
and size 22 blades for that handle,
SS deluxe handle and a dozen assorted blades size 10, 11, 12, and 15 for that handle,
Jonas Ear Openers,
Fleshing horn,
Fleshing gloves,
sewing thread,
sewing palm,
Fin back cream
Critter clay in natural color
Sallie Hide paste

Anything I might have missed? Or that you recomend?
IM not sure yet what Im going to use as my fleshing knife. Ive seen several models online, but cant seem to pick out which would be best.
So anyone that hand fleshes their hides feel free to point one out for me.
Thanks
Rae

I should mention that this is my "Starter" kit I made up.. I just want some basics to be able to skin, flesh, tan a hide and then I want to do a pedestal mount.

How about a mount stand? You may need one of those to make working on them a little easier. Which fleshing machine did you decide on? I was thinking of buying a Dakota Pro Series for myself. From the sounds of it, it is worth every penny. Good luck.

Stands

Well IM leaning towards that 5 pack Mounting stand adapter units (item number 01009315) that was pointed out to me :) And the Model A stand (01501400) and the table top stand model c (01518977) Then the sewing stand (01009317) all from Van Dykes. I might jsut weld my own sewing stand though.
On the flesher IM looking at the Dakota 5. (01326279) For 449.00 Seems like a pretty good deal. But for now IM doing it by hand.. SO I ordered the mammal flesher from WASCO.. That one looked the easiest for me to learn with. Its got a blade and a handle to pull towards you.. WE shall see how it works out. Might end up going with a straigh blade that has a handle at each end.
My shop isnt done yet (just has the floor in) so this winter my husband and father in law are going to get it enclosed :)
SO until then IM doing it by hand LOL
